FARM HAPPENINGS
Thanksgiving Turkeys are in the house! We did process our first batch of 129 fall turkeys last Wednesday and brought them back to the farm store on Thursday. As I expected, this year's turkeys are running on the larger side - the average weight for this first batch was 17.6 pounds. Great news for those looking for a larger turkey this season, we have many in the 20+ pound size, but hardly any below 15 pounds. We've sold about 30 of them already but have about 100 to choose from this weekend in the farm store.

Our next batch of turkeys goes in for processing on Tuesday 12th and will be back into the store on the 13th. Not sure if there will be more smaller turkeys in this 2nd batch but not likely as they've had an extra six days of grow out time compared to the first batch. Pricing this year is the same as last year at $7.95 per pound. Looking back that is the same price we charged the first year we did pasture-raised turkeys back in 2013!
For those that can't make it out to our Dundee farm store but would still like to order one of our turkeys for home delivery, we are offering a limited number on our website. These will be shipped next week and the week of the 18th. Pricing is a little higher due to the handling and packaging costs but still quite a bit less than what I am seeing from other farms shipping pasture-raised turkeys.
CUSTOM BEEF ORDERS AVAILABLE
We were also able to secure eight more beef processing slots next week which will enable us to offer some additional custom half-beef orders this month and next. We had limited those orders this year due to grass-fed beef demand in the store, and had previously been sold out for the year but have opened up online orders again.
FARM STORE UPDATE
We were not able to secure a produce order this week from our local distributor due to supply issues, so not much produce to offer this week except our fall staples of organic potatoes, onions, apples, carrots, and some squash. Will see what we can source for next week.
Weather today looks great again for the farm tour.,,only three more left for the season and the weather will likely not be as nice. Purchase your farm tour tickets online or in the farm store.
Graze on…
