Newsworthy Turkeys, Raw Milk Surplus, Egg Shortage, Holiday Goodies

Newsworthy Turkeys, Raw Milk Surplus, Egg Shortage, Holiday Goodies

OUR TURKEYS MAKE THE NEWS AGAIN
For the second week in a row, our turkeys were in the news.  In a very well-documented story (no paywall) in the Chicago Tribune, reporters Adriana Perez and Claire Malon covered the bird flu and its impact on turkey production across the country. They did a very nice job of addressing the effects of the bird flu on national as well as local turkey production, availability, and pricing. And their photographer got a lot of great pics of our beautiful bronze turkeys.

Of course they will all be gone by next Tuesday. For those of you with fresh turkey reservations for Saturday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, you should already have received an email with pickup instructions from Anna. We noticed there are a few turkey orders that somehow got completed without an email address…you can view a copy of the fresh turkey pickup instructions here.

All the turkeys ordered for shipping have gone out and should be received by now. For those that ordered a frozen turkey for store pickup, please come and get them as soon as possible our freezer space is tight!  And if you still need a turkey we do have a good selection of 15-21 pounders available for online orders with store pickup, OR just stop into the farm store and pick out your ideal size over the next few days.

We will also have lots of other Thanksgiving goodies available see Farm Store section below…

FARM HAPPENINGS
In other farm news, we had a couple more calves born this past week, so our raw milk production continues to be strong and we are not selling out online most mornings, meaning there is milk available for walk-in customers.  A nice bonus for holiday cooking and guests!

Unfortunately our egg production is continuing to decline so we had to reinstate the two dozen limit per customer for now. By Saturday we will have egg reinforcements arriving -   organic, pasture-raised eggs from Three Brothers Farm in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

Please bring any extra plastic or paper shopping bags as well as egg cartons on your next visit so we can reuse those and keep them out of the landfills and oceans.

Anna and I will be helping out in the Farm Store for the fresh turkey pickups so we look forward to seeing many of you over the next few days. If we don't see you, please enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday with friends and family.
