FARM HAPPENINGS - TURKEY SHORTAGE?
We have no turkey shortage this year, despite news reports to the contrary.
We have no turkey shortage this year, despite news reports to the contrary.
On Wednesday the Chicago Tribune reached out to interview us about how we were dealing with the bird flu and if it was going to impact our turkey production this year. I explained to the reporters that our birds were outdoors in the fresh air, sunshine, and on green grass every day so they had healthy, well-functioning immune systems. Therefore the bird flu was not a concern for us. We are enjoying our best turkey production year ever, with about 700 available to sell this Thanksgiving, and over 200 still available. The Tribune sent a photographer out to the farm Friday morning to take some pictures of our turkeys, I expect the article might come out tomorrow in the Sunday edition.
Then later Friday morning reporter John Garcia of ABC 7 News in Chicago called me and asked if they could come out and film our turkeys and interview us about the turkey shortage. Anna was there at our Dundee Farm and mentioned in the interview that our fresh turkeys were all spoken for but we had lots of frozen turkeys available for sale. They cut that part out of the interview … I guess that didn't fit with the narrative of their story theme! However our turkeys do look great in the news clip.
As Anna mentioned in the portion of the interview that was cut, we do have a good supply of frozen turkeys available for walk-in customers and online orders. See below for more turkey info…

You might even hear some stories of close calls with leviathans, seduction by mermaids & kraken avoidance tactics.
