Friday Farm Update - Last week for Fresh Blueberries + Farm Store Job Opening

FARM HAPPENINGS
It has been a sticky past few days on the farm - we were working up a sweat just thinking about doing chores out in the hot sun. The dairy cows do not like this weather at all and it seems like they are on strike this week given the low milk production we are seeing. Fortunately there appears to be some relief coming after this weekend with highs in the 70's all next week and lower humidity levels, much more to their liking.

We took the week off from processing so no fresh chickens this weekend, but we do have the last batch of fresh, chemical-free Michigan blueberries in the store from Joe's Blues.  The blueberry season is short so grab them while you can.

Fresh local and organic produce in the farm store this weekend includes cherry tomatoes, watermelons, purple and green beans, squash and zucchini, pickling and slicing cucumbers, and bunches of carrots.

And I just picked up another 600 pounds of artisan sausages and brats handcrafted by our friends John and Tom at Hometown Sausage Kitchen, made from the trim of our spring batch of pastured pigs. Back in the store tomorrow morning we will have the ever-popular Maple-Sage-Ginger breakfast links, fresh Kielbasa, chorizo, Italian Sausage links, and several different types of brats.

Other store items restocked include the real shilajit (using this every day in my coffee) and from Pure Indian Foods we have organic Mango-Raisin Chutney (great on fish dishes) and Madras Curry. And with lots of bone broth being made from our chicken processing we are building up some inventory so the quarts of chicken bone broth are on sale 4 for $40 (regular $12.95 each).

For those that can't make it out to the farm in person, we have a great selection of our pasture-raised meat bundles available on the website with FREE SHIPPING on orders of $250 or more.  Our 25 lb. Farm Variety Pack includes a diverse selection of our grass fed beef cuts, pasture-raised pork (including brats), and corn and soy free chicken.  New this year we have boneless airline breasts and leg quarters included in the variety packs - ready to be delivered to your home.  Order your variety pack on the website today.

FARM STORE JOB OPENING
In addition we are looking for some help in the farm store.  Ideal candidates are friendly, outgoing omnivores that are into cooking at home with local/organic/regeneratively-raised foods and love to talk about it!  If you are interested please reply to this email with your resume and availability.

Don't forget to bring us your paper and plastic bags to reuse, and come say hello to all the farm animals on one of our hay wagon farm tours which start at 1 PM every Saturday. This week its my turn at tour guide,  Reserve your spots  online or purchase tickets in the farm store.

Thanks for your ongoing support!
