Friday Farm Update - Last Call for Fall Farm Fest Tickets + Turkey Update

FARM HAPPENINGS
Last call for Fall Farm Fest tickets! Weather looks perfect for the event tomorrow with partly cloudy skies and temps forecast in the mid-60's.  The La Adelita taco truck will be arriving from Chicago around noon and serving through 2 pm or so. They will be serving up their famous street tacos - Carne Asada, Beef Birria, Chicken Tinga, Al Pastor and Mojo Mushrooms. Side dishes will include chips and salsa, roasted tomato rice, refried black beans, and guacamole. All you can eat including soft drinks and water will be provided. I drove down to their catering facility yesterday and dropped off a load of our skirt steaks, briskets, pork shoulder, and No Corn/No Soy chickens so they could start preparing the meats today.

In addition to the fantastic food we will also be running hay wagon farm tours all afternoon, visiting the cows, pigs, chickens, and turkeys in their pasture rotations and talking about regenerative agriculture.  And of course the popular hay mound where the kids can expend all their energy and get some exercise  playing king of the mountain.

As of today we have about 30 tickets left for the Fall Fest, we will leave online sales open until 7:30 AM tomorrow. Please reserve your space here - tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for kids 5 - 12, $15 for little tykes that don't eat much. After 7:30 am Saturday morning we will sell any remaining tickets in the farm store.

THANKSGIVING TURKEY UPDATE
We have been getting lots of inquiries lately about Thanksgiving turkeys. We had 250 fresh turkeys available for pre-order, and they are sold out already. We will have approximately 375 frozen turkeys available with the first batch going into the processor on Monday, November 11th and available for pickup at the farm store the following day, Tuesday, November 12th starting at noon.

Given the large volume of frozen turkeys available this year, we are not taking reservations for store pickup as it creates a lot of extra work on our part to manage those reservations. They will be available for walk-in customers only….last year we had about the same volume of frozen turkeys and there were still a few in the store all the way up to Thanksgiving Day.

However, for those that can't make it to the farm store we are now taking orders for a limited number of frozen turkeys to be shipped for home delivery, please visit our website to view available sizes and pricing.

FARM STORE UPDATE
We have another batch of pasture-raised chickens going in for processing next Wednesday, October 16th so there will be fresh chickens available in the store beginning Thursday and running through Sunday at 5 PM.  Next week's batch has been fed the regular organic feed mix which includes Organic/Non-GMO corn and soy.

Raw honey from our Wisconsin farm is now available in the store as well. Fresh local and organic produce this week includes leeks, acorn squash, spaghetti squash, butternut squash, microgreens, spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, garlic, regular potatoes, sweet potatoes, pears and apples.

With the Fall Fest happening tomorrow we will not be holding our regular Saturday Farm tour but those will start again up the following week and run through Thanksgiving.  Please remember to bring your old paper and plastic shopping bags and egg cartons to the store so we can reuse them!

We look forward to seeing everyone at the farm tomorrow…
