FRIDAY FARM UPDATE
We had another busy week on the farm with two batches of pasture-raised chickens going into the processor this week, one on Monday and another on Wednesday. This is the only week of the season when we have two chicken processing dates scheduled. The Wednesday batch was raised on the No Corn/No Soy organic feed blend and we will be selling them fresh in the farm store through Sunday evening. We also have a restock on chicken parts including boneless breasts and thighs.

On Wednesday we received 450 day-old turkey poults, these little guys are destined for Thanksgiving tables in four months. They will spend the first three weeks in the brooder house with supplemental heat and lots of TLC before we move them out to the pasture shelters. We are currently taking orders for a limited number of FRESH turkeys to be picked up the week of Thanksgiving. We also plan to have a good volume of frozen turkeys available starting November 12th.
Fresh local and organic produce in the farm store this weekend includes pickling cucumbers, slicing cucumbers, green zucchini, watermelon, nectarines, Ronde de nice squash, patty pan squash, carrot bunches with tops, honeycrisp apples, and sweet potatoes. And the fresh tomatoes are almost ready for harvesting!
Restocked items this week include Veggie Patties from River Valley Ranch, most of the Mion Soaps and apothecary items, Westby organic butter, and Clover Creek raw milk cheeses. And with our favorite baker Molly on maternity leave for a few weeks (welcome baby Fern!) we have El hornito homemade cinnamon pecan chocolate chip cookies. And still lots of eggs and egg bundles on sale.
Don't forget to bring us your paper and plastic bags to reuse, and if you have time spend 90 minutes with us on a guided hay wagon farm tour starting at 1 PM Saturday. See all the animals up close in their pasture rotations. Reserve your spots online or purchase tickets in the farm store.
Thanks for your ongoing support!
